New Projector Phone in China has wacky ad

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Our buddies over at picoprojector-info.com have come up with a little gem of an advert (if somewhat wacky) for a new Pico-projector phone in China. The projector module is LCoS-based (the projection module is made by iView), and it supports audio/video/photo files, and also some documents

Sony Ericsson continues to drive its World Cup promo vehicle

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Something tells me Sony Ericsson ( NYSE: SNE ) are going to hang on to this promo vehicle for the long haul, despite the somewhat tenuous links with their products.

MetaTools “Making Faces” Power GOO for the iPhone and iPod touch – great fun!

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Every now and then you happen across Apps on the App Store that neatly span the divide between being fun, priced correctly, and in an odd way, also productive. At least that’s how I felt using “Making Faces”, from MetaTools Inc.! Making Faces allows every iPhone/iPod touch owner the ability to take or import photos and literally put a smile on anyone’s face, lift their eyebrows, pinch their nose and a host of other imaginative treatments, all in real time.  Users can produce new images with a few simple strokes of the GOO brushes and other tools that can, for instance, bulge, pinch or twirl the photo into funnier versions of the original.

Net-Lingo: screen-saver face!

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

My fave tech-language site, NetLingo , brings us another classic:    screen-saver face Slang for the look a person gets on their face when they are bored to the point of shutting down their brain.   Ha ha ha! How many of us have been there at some point in our lives? Quite a few I’d bet.

SpinVox and Skype team up

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

SpinVox - ah yes, my fave voice-to-text company…… I still use their service (or rather the people leaving messages for me do!) on a daily basis, and the logic of converting voice-to-text is something that all voicemail services should offer. Who wants to call voicemail when you can read what’s on it?! Well now SpinVox have extended their offering by doing a deal with Skype to get voicemail on there as texts too! The cost is 17p/message, plus any operator SMS charges - but I gotta say it’s going to be worth it - no more wasting minutes and minutes letting an IVR system slowly playback your vmails! Bliss! Netlingo: bit-spit!

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

As you all know, I do like my tech-jargon, and the main source of that for me is the great site Netlingo ! Today we have another instant classic: bit-spit Any form of digital correspondence (text, bit-mapped images, fax transmissions) or the act of sending same. “Did you bit-spit that file to Jane yet?” Now I’ve not heard this one in common usage, so I can only assume this one has been derived from the US.
